The Hunger Project: Strengthening Capacities of Elected Women Representatives in Gram Panchayats

The Hunger Project is:

1. Engaging with Elected Women Representatives in Gram Panchayats. Through our partner organisations in 6 states, we are reaching out to around 8,000 EWRs (virtually) to ensure
(i) awareness and correct information about Coronavirus in their panchayats reaching out to a population of about 5 lakh
(ii) updated information about the many government orders and updates on schemes is available to them
(iii) they are able to carry out monitoring of  important schemes and responsibilities entrusted to panchayats for Covid management during the epidemic

2. Engaging with state governments  drawing their attention to issues affecting the marginalised sections of  rural population

3. Relief work: Additionally, we are reaching out to select vulnerable, food insecure households in some of our working areas with essential food supplies to mitigate the immediate threat of food insecurity. So far, we have reached out to 430 households in Rajasthan, 1069 Households in Madhya Pradesh and 3,546 households in Bihar. We intend to scale up this effort in the coming days.
